  Interactive Systems    

The Interactive Systems section is concerned with enhancing and developing computer interfaces for autonomous and intelligent systems such as autonomous vehicles and intelligent decision aids, and is also performing research in machine translation systems. The group is specifically interested in linking natural language interfaces to other modes of computer interaction, such as human gestures, touch-screen and other graphical modes of human-machine interaction.

The Interactive Systems section at the Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence performs basic research and exploratory development in the following principle areas, including:

Discourse for Human-Computer Dialog
Linguistics of Spatial Relations
Language Input in Human-Computer Interactions

Machine Translation

Preventing Information Overload

Socio-cultural Information and Language
