Mobile Systems Security Section

The Mobile Systems Security Section, Code 5545, a component of the Center for High Assurance Computer Systems at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, focuses on research and development efforts that pertain to the security of modern mobile and wireless communications systems. Code 5545 works closely with resource sponsors to ensure that vulnerabilities associated with wireless networks are identified, well understood, and their associated risks are mitigated prior to the integration of such wireless technologies into current Department of Defense (DoD) wired enterprise and tactical networks.

Code 5545 develops discovery and vulnerability analysis tools as Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS) application(s) that are capable of identifying the presence of wireless network components that may be unauthorized or malicious in nature. Code 5545 researches and develops advanced wireless network visualization GOTS application(s) that help network defenders visually identify transmitters in real-time in order to reduce network defense reaction time. Code 5545 researchers also develop next secure protocols and support the development of next generation tactical wireless networks as well as the components that comprise such networks.
