The basic research program of the Polymer Physics Section involves study of the molecular basis for the mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermodynamic properties of materials and the development of novel polymeric systems. Current areas of focus include relaxation properties and rheology of polymers and their blends, liquid crystalline materials, and molecular liquids.
