Mission Statement:
The Military Deputy participates with the Superintendent in establishing and executing the overall goals of the Division program. In particular, he/she ensures that the program is relevant to Navy needs and responsive to sponsor requirements. As such, he/she will act as the primary liaison between the Division and Navy Service Staffs, System Commands, and Operational Commanders for coordination of science and technology and development efforts in support of operational requirements; develop new science and technology opportunities for and monitor progress of advanced development and transition of acoustic technology products to operational use; coordinate proposals, Advanced Technology Demonstrations, and simulation experiments; and represent the Superintendent when required. As primary liaison, the Military Deputy will inform the operational Navy about NRL capabilities; and educate Division personnel about Navy strategy, capabilities, and requirements. At the discretion of the Superintendent, the Military Deputy may serve as a program manager or scientific research officer working on a project.
