The Communications Intelligence and Signal Intercept Technology Section (Code 5559) does research and development of techniques and signal processing systems for signal intercept and information operations applications. This includes the development of algorithms for the recognition and processing of communications signals. This development often results in a prototype system that is used for laboratory and field testing by the Navy and/or Marine Corps. The algorithms are then transitioned to existing Information Operations systems or to systems under development by other organizations.
Section personnel have extensive experience in Communications Intelligence (COMINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Information Operations (IO).
