Microfluidic Bus for Interconnecting Multiple Fluid Conduits
Description:
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) developed a microfluidic bus for interconnecting multiple fluid conduits for modular, low-pressure applications. The simple architecture allows for quick and easy connect/disconnect of assay cartridges to instrumentation. The design is scalable and comprised of only four parts with no screw connectors. The bus simply presses together with very low dead volume. This reduces the possibility of cross contamination or loss of limited sample volume. These are especially useful features when running high throughput tests or assays on multiple microfuidic cartridges or similar devices.Advantages/Features Include:
- Simple design
- Low cost and scalable
- Quick and easy connect/disconnect with low dead volume
- Suited to manufacturing both reusable and disposable devices
Applications Include:
- Human medical and pharmacological industries
- Electrochemical industries
