Research Areas & Capabilities

The most important resource that NRL has to offer is its technical staff, which is recruited from all disciplines of engineering and the physical sciences. NRL scientists and engineers have particular expertise in the areas that include advanced materials, biomolecular engineering, chemical processing, electronics, optics, sensors, and information technologies. This range and breadth of research activities is reflected in the list of NRL Divisions shown below. Click on the NRL Guide for a brochure that outlines NRL research activities and programs.

In addition to the information available at the various Division websites (follow links below), information is available for specific areas in which the Laboratory has capabilities and interest in developing research collaborations.
