The HIRAAS Infobase

The HIRAAS Infobase is a relational database system for the storage, management, and distribution of HIRAAS data and data products. Ultimately, Infobase holdings will approach a terabyte and constitute a first step toward the long-term database for NRL's UV global remote sensing observations of the upper atmosphere that extend over an 11-year solar cycle.

Software

	Low-level: telemetry stripping, position/attitude calculations, etc.
	Mid-level: product-generating software and algorithms

Why "Infobase"?

"Data" and "Database" are imprecise terms and have as many interpretations as there are interpreters, because the distinctions between data, metadata, and data products are arbitrary. "Infobase" better reflects the variety of measurement, data products, software, and documentation associated with the HIRAAS experiment.
