NRL’s Materials Science Researchers Take Part in MRS 2016

By Jonathan Sunderman

Researchers from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory’s Materials Science and Component Technology Directorate will attend and present their work at the Materials Research Society (MRS) Nov. 27- Dec. 2, 2016.

The 2016 fall meeting at the Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston offers 54 symposium sessions in addition to broader impact programming and a large scale exhibit.

“The ability to attend the MRS Fall meeting is fundamentally critical for young physicists at NRL to remain at the vanguard of their research fields,” said Jake Fontana, NRL Research Physicist. “MRS offers a wonderful opportunity to meet other world-class experts, discuss current and future research collaborations, helping to establish and springboard the careers of young American scientists.”

The Materials Science and Component Technology Directorate carries out a multidisciplinary research program to discover and exploit new improved materials, generate new concepts associated with materials behavior, and develop advanced components based on these new and improved materials and concepts. The program of scientific research and technology development ranges from nanoscale physics to engineered prototypes for sea, air, space and ground technologies.
