ONR Summer Faculty Research Program

This program engages university faculty members in the research programs of NRL to develop the basis for continuing research of interest to the Navy and to establish continuing relations among faculty members and their professional peers.

Stipend level is based on experience and ranges from $1,400 to $1,900 per week for 10 weeks. A relocation allowance is available, and travel expenses are reimbursed. Applicants must hold a teaching or research position at a U.S. College or University.

Applicants MUST be US Citizens or US Permanent Residents at time of application.

Dual Citizenship: If offered an award, those who hold another citizenship in addition to that of the United States MUST BE PREPARED to provide the following to the NRL Security Office before beginning tenure:

A statement expressing your willingness to renounce your dual citizenship. Awardees are not permitted to possess a non-US passport while on tenure. Awardees must either provide a receipt proving that the foreign passport has been relinquished to the consulate, OR must destroy their passport in the presence of an NRL security official.

NRL-USNA Cooperative Program for Scientific Interchange

This program increases the opportunities for the science education of midshipmen at the Naval Academy; broadens the opportunity for USNA faculty members to keep current in their fields of interest by making available to them the scientific expertise of the NRL professional staff and the use of NRL research facilities; and provides scientific support to the research program at NRL by making available the scientific expertise of the Naval Academy faculty.

The appointment begins after the spring semester and generally lasts for 10 weeks. Interested USNA faculty members should contact the USNA Office of the Director of Research for specific details.
