WASHINGTON, D.C. - An image of the sky showing the region around ASKAP J1832-0911. Researchers from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory were part of a global effort to track the newly discovered unusual bursts of radio emission from the object within the Milky Way galaxy. ASKAP J1832-091 emits pulses of radio waves and X-rays for two minutes every 44 minutes. The object is located about 15,000 light-years from Earth.
