Direct Drive Inertial Fusion

Produced by NRL Plasma Physics Division and World Energy Television

Scientists and engineers in the Plasma Physics Division at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory are developing the advanced technologies necessary for clean, abundant energy based on inertial fusion using the electron beam-pumped Nike krypton fluoride (KrF) laser. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the facility routinely conducts experiments in support of inertial confinement fusion, laser-matter interactions, and high energy density physics.
