This program engages university faculty members in the research programs of NRL to develop the basis for continuing research of interest to the Navy and to establish continuing relations among faculty members and their professional peers.

Stipend level is based on experience and ranges from $1,650 to $2,150 per week for 10 weeks. For those relocating greater than 50 miles from their home location, the program will provide up to $3,500 to cover the cost of transportation to and from their duty location and the cost of temporary housing. 

All participants must be U.S. citizens and hold a teaching or research position at a U.S. college or university.

NRL-USNA Cooperative Program for Scientific Interchange

This program increases the opportunities for the science education of midshipmen at the Naval Academy; broadens the opportunity for USNA faculty members to keep current in their fields of interest by making available to them the scientific expertise of the NRL professional staff and the use of NRL research facilities; and provides scientific support to the research program at NRL by making available the scientific expertise of the Naval Academy faculty.

The appointment begins after the spring semester and generally lasts for 10 weeks. Interested USNA faculty members should contact the USNA Office of the Director of Research for specific details.
