The Distributed Systems Section (Code 5583) researches, develops and fields advanced systems solutions for Navy needs in command, control, and decision support. We use technology from the physical and computer sciences to advance the understanding, modeling, prototyping, evaluation, development, and transition of more effective, high performance systems that sense, discover, process, and disseminate information in support of military decision-making.

Examples include distributed modeling and simulation instances and architectures; parallel and distributed processing methods and techniques; advanced information processing algorithms; advanced interoperability protocols; and sensor-net protocols.
